Mike Daisey guests at this musically inclined storytelling series
The Soundtrack Series: In Defense of Unpopular Musical TasteThe Gallery at LPR (158 Bleecker Street, New York, NY, United States) Map it $5
Our favorite ongoing music-inspired storytelling series goes one better this month by landing master monologuist Mike Daisey as one of its readers. Daisey and tonight’s other guests, which include Jia Jung, Michele Carlo, John Asante of NPR, and comedian Sharon Spell, assemble to voice opinions about music that are not widely shared and may raise a few eyebrows. Whether its hatred for the Beatles or admiration for Creed, this evening’s readers are likely to give you a new musical perspective on things. Series creator Dana Rossi plays host.
Stories about our more unpopular tastes in music--whether that's loving Vanilla Ice or hating The Beatles. We usually keep these stories to ourselves. But not this time. Featuring full-throated defenses of artists like Creed, Amy Grant and Phil Collins from Mike Daisey, Jia Jung, Michele Carlo, John Asante, Sharon Spell and more!
