The Story Collider: Stories About Science - The Dark SideLittlefield (622 Degraw St., Brooklyn) Map it $10
Science isn't all double rainbows and baby animals. On Dec. 4 at Littlefield in Brooklyn, The Story Collider will explore its dark side with five true, personal stories that range from an author's chilling exploration of Nazi psychiatry, to a shocking experience of sexism in science journalism, to the tragic and mysterious death of a state champion runner just steps after a mile race. The five storytellers include Danielle Lee, biologist and Scientific American blogger at the Urban Scientist; David Epstein, bestselling author of The Sports Gene; Sarah Schlesinger, clinical investigator and immunologist at The Rockefeller University; Jack El-Hai, author of The Nazi and the Psychiatrist: Hermann Goring, Dr. Douglas M. Kelley, and a Fatal Meeting of Minds at the End of WWII; and Emily Franklin, author of the novel Liner Notes.
