Immerse yourself in tiki: Hawaiian film noir, tiki drinks, Enchanted Tiki Room tribute, & live music
Hawaiian waves lap at the shores of Hollywood Boulevard Saturday, June 1st as the American Cinematheque goes "Tiki." Fans of the organization's film series will be delighted to learn that this year's celebration of mid-century, exotic kitsch will feature a film noir movie set in Hawaii!
The exoticism of the South Seas blows through Hollywood with the Cinematheque's annual Tiki Night at the Egyptian Theatre on June 1, 2013, starting at 5:00 PM! Join us in the courtyard for performances from King Kukulele & The Friki Tikis and the Polynesian Paradise Dancers, tiki vendors, and a no-host bar with your favorite Polynesian drinks. A slide show and a 50th Anniversary tribute to the Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room by Bob Baker's Marionettes will precede a screening of the 1954 film noir HELL'S HALF ACRE, filmed in Honolulu. Grab a lei and a Hawaiian shirt and come on down for some Tiki-tainment!
Vendors will be in the courtyard from 1:00 PM.
