Bedroom-pop-punk by way of Waxahatchee
Although no stranger to adulation, Katie Crutchfield seems to have really struck a chord with her latest incarnation as Waxahatchee. Having performed with Bad Banana and P.S. Eliot prior to striking out on her own, Crutchfield’s solo project is a triumph of bedroom pop: it’s like Guided By Voices decided to cover the Ronettes but were more punk house squat than indie rock pad. Waxahatchee performs with Katie’s twin sister’s equally catchy punk band, Swearin’, and Joyride.
