Blog Editor
NYC
Flavorpill is seeking an experienced, highly motivated individual to manage, edit, and write for a new cultural blog. While Flavorpill's city guides currently focus on events listings, the blog will take alternate routes into art, film, theatre, etc, for an engaged, diverse community of readers. The blog will often include new, original content that can take a niche topic with insider interest and relate it to a broad international readership. The ideal candidate for Blog Editor is a naturally prolific writer with a strong individual, personal voice who can drive the specific vision of the blog.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Define and maintain voice and mission of blog
  • Write 8-10 posts per day, including a mix of unreferenced, original content
  • Maintain balance of postings across a range of genre types
  • Coordinate content with current and future Flavorpill publications
  • Hire a deputy editor and manage a small team of specialist culture writers who generate a total of 20-35 posts per day
  • Ensure high editorial and journalistic standards of writing
  • Work to promote blog, and Flavorpill, across blogosphere
Main Requirements:
  • Expertise in a wide range of cultural content
  • Broad familiarity with web-based cultural publications
  • Proven experience writing for blogs
  • Successful management skills; ability to manage a small team
  • Journalism experience preferred

Music Intern, Editorial
NYC
Flavorpill is actively seeking a Music Intern to work in its NYC headquarters. This intern handles a variety of tasks within Flavorpill's music department, including fact-checking, formatting, band research, audio/video sourcing, and the coordination of listings across cities. The Music Intern also works with our editors to write fresh editorial content to be syndicated in our city guides; qualified candidates also have the opportunity to contribute to other Flavorpill cultural publications. Candidates must be detail oriented and have a flair for the written word as well as possess an open mind, a strong knowledge of music, and a wide range of musical interests. The internship requires a commitment of two full days per week. Interns receive a daily stipend; college credit is available upon request. Interns will also work with our editors to write fresh editorial content for our NYC city guide; qualified candidates will also have the opportunity to contribute to other Flavorpill cultural publications. Candidates must be detail oriented and have a flair for the written word, as well as possess a strong knowledge of culture, including music, fashion, literature, film, and/or visual art. The internship requires a commitment of two full days per week. Interns will receive a daily stipend; college credit is available if applicable.
