The ramshackle plaster on the stairways and corridors of Riflemaker provides the scenario for this artistic coupling. Francesca Lowe's surreal, didactic pastiches of bodies and fantastical winged creatures— depicted in a dazzle of colours with acute and seemingly stolen Victorian detail — are joined by specially commissioned short stories from Lowe's favourite author, Alasdair Gray. While one artist uses serene, vibrant acrylic murals to conjure her moral journey of appropriation, the other draws upon the written word, poetry and illustration to create his patchwork of charged expression. Coming together in a flurry of mutual inspiration, Terminus comprises a thoroughly sophisticated fairy tale.
