Like student Fashion Weeks, fine-art degree shows provide a platform for the artists of the future. To save us from having to trawl through a thousand graduate portfolios, DegreeArt.com has picked the cherries from numerous shows around the country and brought them down to the Empire Gallery. Byam Shaw School of Art post-grad Andy Owen is a fantastic new talent, producing a solo show that is both visually enticing and culturally provocative. His abstract-expressionist-influenced op-art paintings trace a fascinating line between DNA iconography and mechanically reproduced media bombast.
