Since opening his first salon in London in the early 1980s, milliner Stephen Jones' hats have graced the runways of daring fashion designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier and John Galliano for Dior. His whimsical yet elegant designs have also topped off the outfits of public figures as varied as Boy George, Princess Diana and the Rolling Stones. With his work already part of the Victoria and Albert's permanent collection, Jones is also planning a major exhibition at the museum in spring 2009. As part of the museum's Friday-evening lecture series, Jones discusses his method and his inspirations, hopefully revealing some of the madness behind his concept for Kylie Minogue's showgirl headdress.
