Thanks to her stunning images of various armed-and-dangerous Guatemalan bodyguards, Mexican photographer Carla Verea recently nabbed the British Journal of Photography's International Photography Award for 2007. This exhibition showcases her winning portfolio, which depicts Latin American heavies in a variety of "professional poses", reflecting their ambiguous status in society.
