Directed and co-written by offbeat genius Wes Anderson, The Darjeeling Limited tells the story of three brothers (Jason Schwartzman, Adrien Brody, and a bandaged-up Owen Wilson) who, having not seen each other for more than a year, meet up for a mystery train journey into the heart of India and a search for spiritual enlightenment. Right from the opening credits — with its silent, unexplained Bill Murray cameo — Anderson's wry humour and obsession with detail and surrealism emerge, just as endearingly as in The Royal Tenenbaums, firmly placing Darjeeling in the canon of the thinking-person's comedy classics.
