In the past, Cathie Pilkington's work has been presented on an ambitious scale, but with this new exhibition, the sculptor has chosen to present her new childhood-themed creations in a more personal, almost traditional set up. A gonk sits astride a shiny chrome motorcycle, while a creepy Punch occupies a shiny plinth, holding aloft a plate full of miniature elephants, as if that were the most normal thing in the world. Pilkington's newly scaled-down approach increases the intimacy of her pieces, allowing for some welcome variation in texture and atmosphere. For anyone with a love of curios, the baroque or the downright odd, this should be a guaranteed winner.
