Lush-voiced Don Warrington stars in Kwame Kwei-Armah's third play for the National. Having made the move from acting to writing, Kwei-Armah has seen his productions nominated for various awards, including a BAFTA in 2005. In this play, Kwaku Mackenzie, a think-tank intellectual, goes off the rails after the death of his father. Desperately contending with inner demons and trying to restore order to his black-policy strategies, he takes a stand, denouncing solidarity to devastating effect. In a story designed to be both political and provocative, Kwei-Armah doesn't sidestep sensitive issues.
