Trafalgar Square says…

Trafalgar Square's magnificent Christmas tree has become one of the capital's most vivid Yuletide symbols. An annual gift from Norway in recognition of Britain's intervention against Nazi occupation during World War II, the tree is up to 70 feet tall and is selected months in advance for its prestigious duty. On the first Thursday of December, the lights are switched on with a ceremony including caroling, bell ringing, brass bands and other seasonal festivities. Don your finest Christmas attire, stock up on mulled wine and feel the magic of the season.
