French architect, engineer and manufacturer Jean Prouvé was such a huge influence on the world of design that it's quite astonishing to think it's taken over 20 years since his death in 1984 for a major show of his work to reach the UK. The Design Museum has gone all out to redress the balance, taking on the challenge of summarising Prouvé's long and varied career. Prouvé is best known for his work with metal — whether it was pushbikes for the French resistance or functional, elegant armchairs — and the museum has collected 50 of his furniture designs, which are shown alongside full-scale architectural structures, models, drawings, photographs and films.
