The unveiling of Parisian couturier Christian Dior's "New Look" silhouette in 1947 was one of the most important fashion moments of the 20th century. After years of making do and mending, the curvaceous shapes and excess fabric signalled the start of more luxurious dressing. This exhibition follows the story of bespoke fashion, looking at the dresses, designers and dramas from the outset — beginning with the original 70 couture houses and following up with the mere ten that remain today. In addition to glamorous gowns, it features photographs, illustrations and screenings of fashionista films such as 1957's Funny Face and last year's The Devil Wears Prada.
