Georgian caricaturist James Gillray, considered the pre-eminent early political cartoonist, was a thorn in the side of power brokers like Napoleon, George III, Prime Minister William Pitt and Prince Regent. At the Political Cartoon Gallery, scrutinise the workings (and re-workings) of this right rabble-rouser with a showing of his best-known originals from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Contemporary adaptations from Steve Bell, Peter Brookes and Dave Brown hang alongside as proof of his influence on future generations of artists.
