Theatre company Fallen Angel presents a new production of John Fletcher and Philip Massinger's 17th-century classic, The Custom of the Country. The bawdy tragicom tells the story of Zenocia and Arnoldo's nuptials — against the wishes of her parents, naturally — their subsequent shipwreck and the farcical adventures that ensue. Though Jacobean England was scandalized by the purportedly risqué plot line, the play's dark humour and the macabre meanderings of its protagonists are perfect for the modern stage. Equal parts satirical and scathing, Custom ultimately emphasizes morality and the triumph of love.
