The London Film Festival opens this week with an array of premieres and screenings that includes everything from animation to biopics. A strong political vein runs through this year's festival, with Ron Howard's Frost/Nixon leading the charge along with Oliver Stone's W (which scrutinises Dubya's climb to power) and Steven Soderbergh's two-part Che biopic. On a lighter note, the Film on the Square screens Hamlet 2 (an irreverent classroom comedy starring Steve Coogan) and Anvil!, a riotous documentary about the film's titular little-known rock band. Oscar-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman also gives a masterclass presentation.
