Folky Californians Port O'Brien grace our shores tonight with this special ICA performance. Having grown from their humble beginnings as a duo in 2005 to become a full-on five-piece outfit, Port O'Brien were inspired by the band members' hard labour on fishing boats and in bakeries. Songs such as "I Woke Up Today" capture the youthful frustration with the everyday, contrasting low-key, folky arrangements with post-punk's yelped vocals and heavy rhythms. London's Orphans and Vandals open the show with an energy ball of poetic speak-singing, strings, glockenspiels and guitar.
