Though best known for his iconography of American popular culture and controversial merging of art and mass consumerism, Andy Warhol was also a prolific filmmaker and multimedia artist. This major new exhibition brings together an extensive range of Warhol's films, television programmes, archive material, installations and iconic paintings. A selection of the artist's personal video diaries is on display, along with screen tests of luminaries such as Salvador Dalí and Marcel Duchamp. Some of Warhol's most celebrated films, including Chelsea Girls and Empire, screen alongside rarely seen offerings such as Mrs Warhol — a quaint cinematic portrait of the artist's mother, Julia.
