Waldemar Januszczak's comprehensive history-of-sculpture series, first aired last month on More4, moves to the Stevenson Lecture Theatre over the coming weeks as part of Statuephilia. (Art critic Januszczak co-curated the exhibition with British Museum rising-star James Fox.) Tonight's 48-minute instalment analyses sculpture's place in society and features the sacred statues of Easter Island, a communist theme park and the strangely kitsch US national memorial Mount Rushmore. Next week, the focus moves to sculpture within nature, with Stonehenge and Andy Goldsworthy considered.
