Illuminations looks back on the work of satirist Saul Steinberg, who spent six years colouring the pages of The New Yorker with sly digs and cheeky nods. The exhibition includes more than a hundred of his drawings, collages and sculptural assemblages; typical of his direct style is Wilshire & Lex: a wry caricature showing the Big Apple colliding with Los Angeles in a power struggle of epic proportions. Having created more than 90 covers and 1,200 drawings during his time with the magazine, Romanian-born Steinberg passed away in 1999, leaving a more than worthy legacy.
