Andrew McAttee's paintings glow with Technicolor positivity. After stints as a builder and street artist, McAttee sought out classical training, but hints of his street-art experiences remain in his elaborate psychedelic abstractions, which intentionally convey an optimistic worldview. His large canvases are dense, but with uncomplicated universes that elicit a smile from everyone who comes into contact with them. Visiting this exhibition at the relatively compact Forster Gallery is like stepping into a parallel comic-book dimension, with the effervescent paintings serving as a colorful antidote to January's grey drizzle.
