Proverbial myth and sinister mayhem collide at Strychnin Gallery, courtesy of French visual artist Chris von Steiner. Comprising a selection of digital paintings, The Snow King — von Steiner's first solo bow in London — is a lurid manifestation of the artist's imagination, where fairy tales fuse haphazardly with fantasy, dreams and dark desires. The imagery, presented in unapologetically gaudy tones, also draws from well-known icons of music, movies and television, ultimately creating a kaleidoscopic mishmash that is at once familiar and menacingly foreign.
