Performing Arts: Comedy John Hegley: Letters to an Earwig

Downbeat poet John Hegley moves away from his traditional themes of dogs, spectacles and Luton for this foray into entomology. Insectophobes need not steer clear, however: other subjects of scrutiny include potatoes and family histories. A diverting hour of performance art, Hegley's latest show features music (in the form of ukelele sing-alongs), crafts and even a swing. The main draw, however, is Hegley's poetry — performed in his trademark wry fashion — which remains witty, heartwarming and always entertaining.
