This festival showcases the best in women's cinema, from Morocco to Iran, offering a unique look at female filmmakers in the Muslim world. The darkly comic Persepolis, an animated adaptation of the best-selling comic book, recounts the story of an Iranian girl during the Islamic Revolution, and features the voice of Catherine Deneuve. Other highlights include Caramel, which is based in a Beirut beauty salon, and Syria's former Venice Film Festival winner I Am the One Who Brings the Flowers to Her Grave.
