Music: Rock/Pop Maximum Black presents Final Fantasy w/ Dirty Projectors, Six Organs of Admittance and Stephen O'Malley & Alexander Tucker

Thanks to an intellectual property dispute with violinist Owen Pallett, a Vienna-based public works company foots the bill for the Maximum Black Festival. Final Fantasy — Pallett's formidable side project when he's not composing strings for the Arcade Fire — feature elegant, multi-instrumental melodies and soulful vibrato vocals. Canadian cohorts the Dirty Projectors combine siren-like harmonies and experimental rock with Dave Longstreth's poetic songwriting. Six Organs of Admittance's Ben Chasny creates dervish swirls of psychedelic guitar drone, while Sun O)))'s Stephen O'Malley joins up with Alexander Tucker for the night's opening slot.
