From being voted Kerrang's best newcomers to getting tattooed live on the Reading Festival stage, punk five-piece Gallows have rock quality in spades. Hailing from the dreary London satellite town of Watford, the band have enjoyed meteoric success over the last 18 months, signing to Warner Brothers for a four-album UK deal and releasing the LP Orchestra of Wolves on Brett Gurewitz's Epitaph label in the States. While musically their tracks are almost as expected — visceral hardcore writhing with screaming guitars and the occasional Hammond — it's their live performances that have had everyone quite literally gasping for breath: expect a liminal and legally questionable riot of bar-trashing, stage-diving, equipment-wrecking behaviour led by charismatic frontman Frank Carter.
