- The City Speaks: A Film for Radio, from an idea by Peter Ackroyd
The City Speaks is inspired by historian (and Londonphile) Peter Ackroyd's writings. This multimedia celebration of the capital takes the form of six short films/radio plays recorded across the metropolis, with the help of artists such as William Raban and Inge Blackman. These segments are united by the shared expectation of a vision from the Virgin Mary in a city church, but each film features an entirely different context and set of characters (among them, a lost Tube station, synchronised swimmers and voodoo goddesses).
Note: The plays will be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on Wed 19 Mar & Thur 20 Mar (2:15pm).
