Film: Documentary Human Rights Watch International Film Festival
-
- Edward Burtynsky, Manufactured Landscapes
For a stark reminder of your privileged place in the world, stop by this year's Human Rights Watch International Film Festival. Now in its 12th year, the event manages to cram 25 dramas, documentaries and animated films dealing with human-rights issues into ten days — with most screenings preceded by short plays or followed by an often-heated Q&A with the director. While it may be impossible, both mentally and physically, to see every selection, you still have the chance to catch more than a few rarely shown films, while further educating yourself on international atrocities and activism.
