Performing Arts: Theatre The Living Unknown Soldier

The Arcola Theatre's production of the tragicomic The Living Unknown Soldier creates an interesting link between the past and the future. While the play itself is rooted in what's gone before — it revolves around an amnesiac French soldier who returns from battle to a world of desperation — the producers also look to the future, using special fuel cells to make Soldier an ecologically sustainable stage production. This is the second collaboration between Simple 8 and the Arcola, whose union also begat last year's excellent Les Enfants du Paradis.
