Film Under the Skin (1997) and Morvern Callar (2002)

Nottingham-born actress Samantha Morton has always had a penchant for gritty realism, having last appeared as Ian Curtis' wife Deborah in the Joy Division biopic Control. Her debut film role as Iris in Under the Skin saw her play a grief-stricken daughter on a destructive path of sexual obsession, while Lynne Ramsay's Movern Callar, based on Alan Warner's novel, cast Morton as the titular anti-heroine, cold and empowered. This double bill is a benefit for this year's Ladyfest women's arts festival, which takes place in May.
