Performing Arts: Comedy David Strassman

Ventriloquism in the UK hasn't been the same since Rod Hull fell off his roof back in 1999, leaving his cantankerous partner Emu spineless. Help is now at hand, thanks to David Strassman. Rather than sticking to one character, the American has his fingers in many puppets, which gives him enough material to fill out a technically breathtaking and frequently hilarious stage show — honed to perfection against tough Australian audiences. Viewers get to know Chuck Wood, the devil-child puppet who dreams of being a real-life brat, and Ted E. Bare, the naïve and bullied stuffed animal.
