Performing Arts: Theatre The Unconquered

Stellar Quines Theatre Company present Torben Betts' award-winning play The Unconquered, exploring a story of revolution with dark, poetic satire. Directed by Muriel Romanes, the action takes place in a Western country — not so unlike our own — during a time of political kidnappings and uprisings. The lead character, simply called the Girl, leads a humdrum existence with her family, until it's interrupted by a soldier representing the dark side of rebellion. Artist Keith McIntyre's set, comprised of a giant dollhouse and papier-mâché objects, heightens the sense of caricature and surrealism as things spiral out of control.
