Performing Arts: Spoken Word Kristin Hersh: Paradoxical Undressing

Throwing Muses founder Kristin Hersh reads excerpts from her forthcoming memoir, Paradoxical Undressing, in a spoken-word piece that also incorporates essays, snippets of film and music. The session's title refers to the unexplained tendency for hypothermia victims to remove their clothing, and this American singer/songwriter explores the similarly inexplicable contrast between her extremely introverted personal life and her unrestrained performance style. Hersh weaves topics such as mental illness, childbirth and the corporate music industry into a performance that vents her demons while showcasing her impressive stage presence.
