Buck 65 does hip-hop with a difference. While bearing a passing comparison in name to 50 Cent, the similarities end there. He hails from rural Canada, is about as bling as Bernard Manning and is influenced as much by Johnny Cash as Afrika Bambaataa, incorporating folk, country, soul and avant-garde experimentation in his musical mash. Financial constraints often prohibit Buck from playing with his full band (including pedal-steel), but don't feel ripped off if he turns up solo. Unaccompanied, he scratches, raps and jokes his way through a hugely entertaining set — often accomplishing all three at the same time.
