Reading: Poetry Daljit Nagra: Look We Have Coming to Dover!

With each passing year, Somerset House grows more confident in its newfound identity as a public venue, hosting everything from ice-rink parties to rock concerts. But with the appointment of Ruth Padel as writer-in-residence, we can now also appreciate its inner sanctums in quiet reflection, as she curates lunchtime readings by up-and-coming British poets. This week, the series — titled That Mighty Heart: Poets' Visions of London — turns to Daljit Nagra. Reading from his excellent debut collection, Look We Have Coming to Dover! (Faber, 2007), the English teacher and Dollis Hill resident delves into his Punjabi background to frame all the insider/outsider experiences of being a British-born Indian.
