Performing Arts: Theatre The Harder They Come

As you might guess, The Harder They Come is the musical-theatre adaptation of the 1972 cult film starring reggae legend Jimmy Cliff — it's also the best-selling show in the Theatre Royal Stratford East's history. Tonight, the Barbican hosts the show on its main stage as part of East London festival EAST. Charting the highs and lows of hopeful reggae singer Ivanhoe Martin, the play captures the sound and feel of the mean streets of '70s Kingston, Jamaica, with a live band performing classic tracks including "You Can Get It If You Really Want" and "The Rivers of Babylon".
