Vancouver-born, Munich-educated and London-based artist Daphne Plessner presents It's a Wallpaper World. Featuring a series of canvas paintings, the exhibition depicts the ongoing friction between contemporary political and social life, from blind confusion to stark reality. Referencing the "knowing falseness" of wallpaper, Plessner and her pieces — which she began in 2004, taking in such varied forms as the human figure, toys and Canadian First Nation aboriginal symbols — explore the notion of mankind's ultimate need to transform the feared into the revered.
