Diminutive Whitecross Street gallery Ancient & Modern stage eccentric exhibitions that honour their name. In that tradition, the Alvin Langdon Coburn and Jane England show features photographic work from 1917 alongside pieces from the '70s and '80s. Coburn's abstract photographs embody one of the lesser-known "-isms" — Vorticism, which was established to imitate the complexity of industrialisation and signified the end of London's Edwardian era. England's more modern portraits reveal subcultures attempting to emulate that time, with images of Teddy boys, punks and New Romantics, as well as celebs such as Vivienne Westwood and Philip Sallon. Go for the old, but revel in the new(ish).
