The title of the Parasol Unit's new collaborative exhibition refers, on the surface, to public spaces in theatres and concert halls. But its deeper purpose is to bring the often hidden thought processes behind art's creation into the public domain — the societal front of house. Combining sculptural artworks by Ângela Ferreira and Narelle Jubelin with conceptual input from architect Marcos Corrales and Goldsmiths curating director Andrew Renton, the show stresses the importance of collaboration, putting into focus Renton's idea that "there is never a singular work that comes out of nowhere."
