Barbican says…

Exploring the creation of art in the face of domineering regimes, Censorship as a Creative Force is the Barbican's latest film series, presented in association with the Polish Cultural Institute, the Czech Centre and the Hungarian Cultural Centre. Friday evening's kick-off event, ScreenTalk, brings together three esteemed European directors — Andrzej Wajda, Istvan Szabo and Jiri Menzel — to discuss their experiences of filmmaking under Communist suppression. A screening of Escape from 'Liberty' Cinema follows, and the coming weeks see I Served the King of England, The Round-Up and Larks on the String.
