Film: Shorts Les Religions Sauvages

Subversive French publishing house Le Dernier Cri's Pakito Bolino brings a collection of animated shorts created by 30 artists to the ICA. Intended as a deconstruction of modern civilisation, Les Religions Sauvages bombards the viewer with a relentless barrage of collaged stop-motion animation and debauched paintings. Ghostly Klansmen worship a morphing face and grotesque effigies, while disturbing mash-ups of children's toys enact odd, macabre rituals in an art brut-meets-manga gross out. To accompany this assault on our senses, Bolino heads up a group of UK musicians to improvise a soundtrack for this creepy screening. "Uncomfortable" is an understated description for this didactic catalogue of our vices and seedy imaginations.
