Note: On Saturday 3 May (3pm) Barbican Film presents Anderson's new film, Hidden Inside Mountains. Following the screening, Anderson gives a talk about her work.
Music and performance maverick Laurie Anderson presents her most political work to date as part of the Barbican bite08 series. Featuring innovative electronic grooves, powerful songwriting and Anderson's cracked voice, Homeland explores the current state of 21st-century America — from the conflict between personal freedom and national security to the language of the war on terror — providing a prescient take on her country's values. She's accompanied by violist Eyvind Kang, bassist Skuli Sverrisson and keyboardist Peter Scherer.
