Filmmaker Ruth Hinkel-Pevzner combed through Russian film archives to create her new video work, installed in the centre of a disused Shoreditch building. A haunting study of longing and dreaming, The Car's narrated city pursuit is strung out across five screens in grainy black and white, reflecting on both the search for an ideal and its consequences. Also exhibited is a series of five photogravure prints that illuminates moments from the video. The rare printing technique, which was used for the earliest photographs, was specially commissioned to capture the meditative atmosphere of the installation.
