Featuring 350 influential works that span from the 19th century to the current day, the Tate Modern's expansive exhibition explores the dichotomy between images produced in photographers' studios and those taken out on the streets. The list of artists on show reads like a roll call for a photo hall of fame, ranging from Magnum photojournalists Henri Cartier-Bresson and Jacques Henri Lartigue to intimate portraitists Irving Penn and Cecil Beaton, along with often shocking and explicit fine artists Robert Mapplethorpe and Cindy Sherman. All told, it's a fascinating and comprehensive romp through photographic history.
