Auckland's Collapsing Cities play indie-pop Krautrock with glib lyrics of doomed love and disaster. And while they're less sarcastic than their soon-to-be tourmates Black Kids, the band's reverb-laden guitars and whip-crack percussion drive Steve Mathieson's morbid songwriting at similarly breakneck speed. Support comes from the Midlands' Mirror! Mirror!, who opt for a more noise-based approach to avant-rock. Thorny guitars, screeched vocals and clattering rhythm provide a backbone for wild art-core with funked-out bass lines.
