Gnarls Barkley producer Danger Mouse initially enlisted Akron blues-rock duo the Black Keys to write the music and lyrics for an album to be sung by Ike Turner. But after Turner's death last year at 76, the project became a Black Keys album, the Danger Mouse-produced Attack & Release. If the debut single, "Strange Times," is any indication, the Keys are still stuffing archetypal rock songs with Dan Auerbach's enormous, filthy guitar riffs and Patrick Carney's stripped-down drumming — albeit augmented by Danger's demented bells and whistles.
