FilmAll Power to the Imagination! 1968 and Its Legacies

This expansive festival celebrates 1968's pivotal role in shaping the world as we know it with a rich slate of events, including a monthlong film season at Curzon's theatres. These screenings pay tribute to the filmmakers, journalists and artistic pioneers who shepherded in a new and critical way of cultural thinking. The line-up sees television footage meet feature-length films and documentaries, all capturing the zeitgeist of '68. Three sessions of the Newsreel programmes' collective critiques on mainstream media give an anti-establishment voice to reportage, while Un Tigre de Papel (2007) tracks Colombian politics through collage artist Pedro Manrique Figueroa. For less substance, but oh-so-much more style, Bullitt (1968) demonstrates American cinema's hip rebirth with Steve McQueen's classic smoothness. [Info Source]
