Two of the capital's cultural powerhouses — the British Museum and Kew Gardens — join forces to provide insight into the horticultural preferences of the East. Plants figure largely in Chinese culture, and this garden showcases all manner of greenery, from the beautiful — such as ginkgo, a familiar decorative motif — to the useful, such as bamboo, which is utilized for food as well as timber.
